The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC, UNGA-1) is one of the most important committees under the United Nations General Assembly. It is responsible for deliberating and identifying threats to global security, within the limits of its charter. Maintenance of global peace and security, and preventing global war, has always been one of the UN’s primary objectives since its founding. DISEC is an important part of the global machinery that keeps conflict from escalating.
